Jan Svochak

Jan Svochak (July 7, 1925 – September 6, 2006) was the head animator of J. J. Sedelmaier Productions from the 1960s through the 1990s. He was born in Czechoslovakia in 1925. His biggest success came in 1961, when he created the ''Punchy'' character for the Hawaiian Punch ad campaign.
In the 1930s, Mr. Svochak came to live in America with his family. He served in the United States Army tank corps during World War II, where he aided in the liberation of Jews from the Dachau concentration camp. After the war, he came back to New York City and found a job at Famous Studios.
He started out as an inbetweener for Martin Taras on the "Baby Huey", "Little Audrey", and "Herman & Katnip" shorts. Later, he did freelance work for the likes of Jack Zander, Buzz Potamkin, and J.J. Sedelmaier.
